2007 Scholarship Program

TO: All Active and Active Retired Members of Local 1664

FROM: Amy Vanderryn, Chairman
Scholarship Committee

SUBJECT: MCCFFA Scholarships for 2007-2008

The Scholarship Committee and the Executive Board of Local 1664 are once again delighted to offer the Scholarship program for the upcoming 2007 – 2008 school year. A copy of the Rules and Regulations and the application form for this year’s program are available online to download.

Applications will only be accepted from individuals with a 3.0 Grade Point Average or higher. There will be a total of five - $2,000.00 scholarship awards. In an effort to promote fairness to all applicants, 2 scholarships will be designated for graduating high school seniors and 2 for current college enrolled students. The fifth scholarship will be awarded at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee from remaining applications meeting all of the acceptance criteria. All five scholarships will be awarded. If not enough qualified applicants are available for either category; the remaining awards will be given to the next qualified applicant of the remaining group.

All applicants are encouraged to read the instructions carefully. Failure to submit all required documentation will result in the applications immediate removal from consideration by the Committee. Over the past several years, the Scholarship Committee has reviewed all the material and information supporting this program. A number of changes have been made in an effort to streamline the process and eliminate any confusion in the instructions. It is our goal to administer this program to all who apply in the most fair and consistent manner as possible.

Every year we receive many qualified applicants; therefore it is important for the Scholarship Committee to have all the necessary information in order to give everyone fair and equal consideration. As always, we are happy to answer any questions applicants may have as they work through the process. Additionally, we are always open to suggestions or comments regarding any part of this Scholarship Program.

Best wishes to all who apply and thank you for your participation in this year’s program. All qualified and interested persons must complete the application and assemble all required documents. They must be returned to the Local office or must be postmarked by the close of business on May 1, 2007.
